Brigden, ON (July 17, 2024) – The fifth round of the 2024 Triple Crown Series unfolded at the picturesque Sand Del Lee motocross track, located just outside of Ottawa, delivering an action-packed weekend of motocross excitement. Fans were treated to spectacular performances in the 450 and 250 classes as riders vied for top honours in this prestigious series.
Highlights
In the 450 class, KTM Canada Red Bull’s Jess Pettis emerged victorious with a masterful ride in both motos. His remarkable speed and technical prowess earned him the overall top spot on the podium, much to the delight of the cheering crowd.
In the 250 class, Drew Adams, US Kawasaki’s Team Green rider on his KX250, dominated the competition with a flawless performance. Adams’s exceptional agility and control on the track allowed him to secure a commanding victory, further establishing his dominance in the series as he took over the points lead.
The first 250 moto saw Adams grab the holeshot and quickly jump into the lead, where he maintained first place for the duration of the race, finishing with a 37-second lead over KTM Canada Red Bull’s Kaven Benoit and Ottawa-native Honda Canada GDR Fox Racing’s Tyler Medaglia. The real excitement occurred between MX101 FXR Yamaha’s Sebastien Racine and Priority MX’s Wyatt Kerr, who battled for fourth position for most of the race until Racine edged out Kerr in lap 11.
In Moto 2, Adams, Benoit and Medaglia started and finished the race in the same order as Moto 1. In contrast, Racine, suffering a crash on the first lap, would finish in sixth, allowing Kerr to grab fourth and Partzilla PRMX Racing’s Dylan Rempel to secure fifth, marking a steady progression forward for the young rider.
The first 450 moto saw the KTM Canada Red Bull’s Josiah Natzke grab the holeshot and command the lead in the first lap, a position he hung onto without competition until the checkered flag. Teammate Jess Pettis rounded the first corner in third, trailing MX101 FXR Yamaha’s Preston Kilroy, where the riders would swap positions and battle it out for second place until halfway through the moto. Pettis would eventually trump Kilroy for second, followed by Partzilla PRMX Racing’s Aaron Tanti and WLTN Kawasaki’s Tanner Ward.
Moto 2 was an early repeat of the first moto until two laps of intense bar-banging between Pettis and Natzke brought the crowd to their feet, resulting in Pettis taking over the lead and carving out a 20-second lead by the time the checkered flag flew. Kilroy would work his way to 3rd after an early moto crash found him in 18th position, while Tanti, suffering a bike issue, would hold onto 4th, and Ward would again round out the top 5 in fifth.
In the FXR Premix class, the first moto saw Tyler Kirby (Hawkesbury, ON) rounding the first corner in the lead, trailed by defending champion Sam Gaynor. Gaynor would quickly work his way into the lead, followed by Kirby and Cumberland, Ontario’s Jonathan Bergeron. Moto 2 Gaynor suffered a bobble off the start and would have to work his way back into the lead from 7th position. Kirby held onto first until the second last lap, with Anthony Voghell (St-Cesaire, QC) claiming third.
KTM Canada Red Bull’s Eve Brodeur had her work cut out for her this weekend in the THOR WMX class, as Jaime Astudillo (Gilbertsville, PA) pressured her for first for the duration of the first moto, with Eve holding onto a two-second lead. BC’s Kaylie Kayer would ride by herself for most of the moto to secure 3rd place. The second race would repeat itself in the same fashion, with the three riders rounding out the top 3 in the moto and top 3 overall on the day. Ferguson Racing’s Katrine Ferguson (Iles des Chenes, MB) earned fourth overall at Sand Del Lee, her best overall of the season.

The competition intensifies as the 2024 Triple Crown Series progresses, promising more exhilarating races and standout performances. Riders and fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming rounds, where the quest for the championship titles will continue as we head into the season’s final three races.
